Biking Bergen Sept ’24

Biking Bergen Sept '24

Back again in one of my favorite cities to cycle and hang with friends for a long weekend. This was the first time I brought my bike on the airplane and it worked out well. Highlights include visiting Brann stadium for a football game, exploring the city further, and of course enjoying the exquisite nature all around. These Norwegians know how to get out of the city and enjoy some outdoor tranquility, so why not learn from the best.

Our first cycle tour took Fredrik, Martin, and I out to the university research facility and back in a nice loop to warm up for the weekend.

Between cycling, we cruised the city on foot and got some sightseeing in.

The next day was supremely sunny and I met up with Nico to get some dirt on these gravel tires. He guided us up and out of the city into the forested mountains to see more of the natural terrain surrounding Bergen.

That night, I hit the Brann game that Fredrik was working and soaked up the scene, which of course included a sampling of a local delicacy, Smash.

The next day was my last in Bergen and we organized a group ride, with Nico and Martin joining Fredrik and I. The Sikeldelika quarterly convened at a remote water-side location and we spun up some good times cruising through the forested streets and soaking up the beautiful water views.

Another fun Bergen trip in the books. Grateful to Fredrik for hosting me and Niko and Martin for showing me around and kickin it. Will certainly be back for some cycling summer ’25.
